The Official Mailers Postmark Permit Club Website - A.P.S. Affiliate No. 100

Our History

With the advent of coil stamps and meter tapes, precanceled envelopes began to disappear. As a result, the Precanceled Envelope Collector Club (PECC) disbanded, but joined other collectors to become the nucleus that on May 1, 1979 gave birth to the Mailer's Postmark Permit Club, Inc. On January 25, 1980 we were granted affiliate status from the American Philatelic Society and assigned No.100.

Under the inspirational guidance of the founder, John H. Howell (1910-1990), a Mathematics Professor at Los Angeles City College, the club grew at a fast pace and soon published a series of reference booklets. Today the MPPC has a membership of well over 150 members and 120 life members.

The current president, Joseph LoPreiato, in concert with the Board of Directors, has spearheaded a renewal program, which has brought about radical, unprecedented changes in the annals of the MPPC; innovations carefully designed to elevate the club to world class status.
